PUBLISHERS: SHARED WORLDS NEEDS BOOKS!
Every year close to 60 voracious teenage writers who love books come to Shared Worlds to build worlds, create stories, and become part of an ever-widening community. Many of them are supported by needs-based scholarships and do not have much money for books, either at the camp or at home. One highlight of the camp is the free book giveaway at the end of week two.
Publishers including Del Rey, Bantam, Tor, and more have taken part by donating copies of their novels and short-story collections, in finished or advance reader copy form. All publishers who take part are included in the PR about the camp, thanked on the Shared Worlds website, and also included in the Shared Worlds student writing book—which were sold publicly for the first time in 2013.
If you would like to contribute books, you can send them to the address below. Both YA and adult selections are welcome. Fantasy, science fiction, and horror are all fine—these are advanced readers who love everything. You can send multiple copies of one book or a selection of titles. Although we do expect around 60 students each year, you can of course send only the number of books you can spare. If you have a question about the suitability of a title, please email Kim Henry, the Shared Worlds office manager at: henryke@wofford.edu.
Thanks so much for your support!
Books must be received by mid-July to be handed out to students at that year’s camp.
